The Senate of the Terran Republic, also better known as the Terran Senate, or the Senate, or by its acronym STR, is the supreme legislative body of the Terran Republic.

History and Lore[]

After the fragmenting of the Fiend-Terran Empire, a meeting between the Terranlords was called by Artha Stone, the bastard son of the dead king [REDACTED].

This summit between the Terranlords decided to establish a new governing system, which established the Terran Republic. They established a series of guidelines and governing principles that would serve as the framework of this new nation, along with the two new main political bodies, which were the result of the division of the power of a monarch. the legislative branch represented by a governing body, the Terran Senate, and the executive branch, represented by a single elected person, the Daitoa. This decision was in part influenced by a heavy rejection among the Terranlords of the monarchic system and a desire to limit the powers of the government.

Members[]

When originally established, the Senators were all the Terranlords, regardless of power or distinction. The Terranlords hold this position for life, and once pronounced dead, the title is passed to his appointed heir.

Overtime, however, the Senate evolved to include members elected by popular assemblies and others that were appointed as senators as a reward for a service made to the Republic.

The Daitoa presides over the Senate but he cannot vote unless there is a tie. Past Daitoas can hold a seat as a Senators as well.

Prerogatives[]

The Senate is the main political body of the Terran Republic, with it holding it most of the political power and more importatly, the ability to create law.

Notably, the Senate holds the exclusive ability to create new taxes.

The Daitoa is elected by the Senate, and even though he presides over the governing body, the Daitoa is ultimately subservient to it. One of his main duties is carrying out the will of the Senate. The Senate also holds the power to impeach and remove the Daitoa if necessary, for whatever reason they consider relevant enough.
