Sandwyrms are a species animals found in Endless Utopia Online.
Biology[]
In simple terms, Sandwryms are enormous worms that inhabit the Draco Desert.
Their lengths typically range from 50 to 100 meters, with some specimens growing even larger. Due to their massive size, they are the dominant species in the desert, with a diet consisting of everything that moves. These creatures have large, circular mouths filled with hundreds, if not thousands, of thorn-like teeth, displayed in several circles around the mouth, that bristle whenever it opens its mouth.
Their skin is thick and rough, resembling metal, serving as armor. It's made up of many scales, each ranging from one to three feet in size. These scales overlap and interlock to create a protective barrier against internal sand invasions. Similar to dragons, this armor is nearly impenetrable, except by scorpions, ballistae, or other specialized weapons.
Behavior[]
Due to their nature of hiding beneath the sands, little is known about the behavior of Sandwryms, and no one has ever tamed one.
That being said, it's possible to ride them.
By prying open the edges of one or more of the scales, the integrity of the armor can be compromised; therefore, sand can freely enter into the sandwryms softer insides, causing intense irritation for the beast. This would force the creature to roll itself until the opened scale was at the highest point from the desert floor, thus minimizing the amount of sand that could enter.
Any skilled desert dweller poised to "ride" the beast as it rolled its open scale towards its highest point could literally mount the worm. As long as the scales remained open, the sandwyrm will not submerge. Hooks with chains are then placed towards the front of the beast to control lateral movement.
