Hippocampii are a species of animals found in Endless Utopia Online.
Biology[]
A Hippocampus has the forequarters and hindquarters of a giant fish and a head that resembles an aquatic horse. From a real-world perspective, an Hippocampus resembles a giant Seahorse, with a fin-like mane, two pectoral fins, two pelvic fins and a large and powerful caudal fin.
When they are born, they are rather small, measuring less than a meter long, but over several years, Hippocampii can grow to lengths over 7 meters.
Hippocampii are highly adaptable animals, and they are confortable living in either a cold or hot climate. The colors of their scales varies depending on the climate they live in, with those living closer to the equator having more vibrant colors (such as yellow, red, organge and light-green), and those that live close to the northern pole having more muted and cool colors (such as sky-blue, blue cyan, and grey). They are also able to change their colors depending on the water temperature around them.
Behavior[]
Hippocampii are intelligent, social, and curious creatures with playful and friendly personalities. They are known for their natural curiosity about the world and eagerness to interact with people and other animals. Hippocampii exhibit strong social bonds, living in pods and cooperating to hunt, defend one another, and care for their young. Their sociable personality makes them easy to tame, even when they are in the wild.
Their playful nature is one of their most recognizable traits, often seen leaping out of the water, riding waves, or engaging in games with pod members. This playfulness is not just for fun—it also serves as a way to strengthen social connections and hone their physical and mental skills. Hippocampii are empathetic and protective, known for helping injured or struggling pod members and even assisting other species, including humans, in distress. They communicate with a complex system of clicks, whistles, and body movements, showcasing their intelligence and ability to express emotions.
While generally friendly and curious, Hippocampii can also display caution and protectiveness, especially if they sense danger. Their adaptability and problem-solving abilities highlight their intelligence and resourcefulness in navigating challenges in their environmen
Tamed Hippocampii act in a similar fashion to horses. They are equipped with specialized briddles, saddles, and reins to be ridden in the sea. During battle, they are also equipped with specialized armor.
Their diet mostly consits on small to medium-siezed fish, and to a lesser extent, algae and krill.
Hippocampii are among the fastest creatures in the sea, only nearly matched by Hydras and Sea Dragons.
