Normally

Hideo is a 14-Year-Old kid who originally came from the United States since his parents contacted his cousin to take him due to them barely having money some 10 years ago. He has grey hair and is 5'9, slightly taller than Kirito. He normally dresses in black, but sometimes he'll have clothes with cyan and purple neon accents.

Sword Art Online

His SAO appearance consists of a mask that completely covers his body in armor in which the accents could change into 3 separate colors and is topped with a cape. Cyan and purple is the default color option for Hideo's armor. When he's not using his armor, he'll go for anything that's colored very dark and wears a scarf to obscure his face. If Hideo gets angry, the highlights on his armor turns into a dark crimson. An example of this is Hideo's Bloodshot Rage skill which gives his eyes a bloodshot red color which will make him able to rampage. The armor had a 5-minute immunity limit so Hideo didn't have to worry about dying randomly via Player Killers. During his fight with Akihiko Kayaba, he changes the armor's accents to gold to honor his late father, who used used to work at Argus and was a tester of the early alpha build of SAO. He has a Shapeshifting ability here, so he mostly takes form of either a wolf, mountain lion or a hawk.

Alfheim Online

When he ports his avatar to ALO, his avatar glitched while porting, resulting in some of Hideo's SAO items to be brought in under different names due to ALO bearing similar items that have an almost identical models, textures, and color palette. The mask had been converted into a helmet and possesses its concealed armor, although all the skills have been separated into his skill set, with the immunity boost being removed completely. He is a battle mage, so that means he's both a mage and a swordsman, meaning he could cast spells and use swords. Hideo opted to keep the helmet off on his ALO avatar a day after he entered the pub for the Survivor party, due to him having a partial change of personality. This avatar also has the shapeshifting ability, with him using it to escape from player hunters.

Gun Gale Online

In GGO, he opted to keep his identity secret and only go by the name of Totenkopf. He sported a jacket draped over his shoulders with a hood along with a trench coat where he conceals his 2 pairs of Kagemitsu photon blades. His cyan and purple accents are hidden from view, instead alternating his uniform from black and white. When he encounters Deathgun and Kirito in a duel, he teams up with Kirito and reveals his identity, lighting up his armor accents when drawing 2 Energy Swords. The letters "RQ-0" are inscribed on the jacket. In his Totenkopf form, the inscribed letters are changed to "TK-F".

Ordinal Scale

His Ordinal Scale avatar, which he modeled after parts of his SAO avatar and ALO avatar, is made to look partially like a robot (Arms and Legs) and the rest of his body staying organic. His avatar has a slimmer frame too, although his frame could be partially shapeshifting his body type. He also has abilities that he ported over from SAO and ALO, making his rig one of the first modified Augmas.

Project Alicization

Hideo's Alicization appearance is a mix of his SAO avatar and Integrity Knight armor with bits of armor floating in some places. The integrity knight part of his armor came from the first turncoat integrity knight ever since the founding of the Axiom Church. Coincidentally, he was the 13th integrity knight, which coincides with a story involving Judas Iscariot: one of Jesus's apostles. The integrity knight traitor and 4 other turncoat integrity knights from the Axiom Church fled from the Axiom church, thus dubbing them Requiem Knights. Unfortunately, the lead integrity knight was executed but was revived once Hideo joined the game. He met up with the other turncoat integrity knights underground where they stumbled upon a hyper advanced civilization, who needed a ruler. Thus, crowning Hideo as the Jack of All Trades of Underworld Actual. This version of his avatar also has a shapeshifting ability, although he could combine with the other 4 Requiem Knights to turn into multiple other forms like a dragon. During a fight with Chudelkin, he combined with the 4 Requiem Knights to form a Gryphon. Once heading to Quinella's chambers, the Sword Golem she created attacked the Gryphon, but it dodged, thus revealing a trick that Hideo had up his sleeve. He scanned the Sword Golem and shapeshifted into it's appearance, gaining it's same abilities whilst obtaining new ones.

Personality

Initially, he comes to SAO shy and reckless. Sometimes he shows excitement when he finds items he could use for survival. Sometimes, he could be mean spirited to other players if they steal their kills. He goes into a short state of depression once he finds out that his parents have died in a car accident. But, after a few days, he becomes kind of caring after getting the Moonlit Black Cats, the first guild that Kirito joined, out of a sticky situation when one of the members messed up on opening a chest in a anti-crystal room. Once they got out, Hideo donated most of his items toward the guild, due to their extremely low-leveled armor and equipment. During an encounter with Titan's hand, a Juggernaut skill he equipped made him go massacre half of Titan's Hand, forcing them to flee from him. Sometimes, he looks up to his cousin, Kinji as a cool brother who loves to draw, although Hideo's drawing skills are not as good as Kinji's art. He graduated school at a very young age when he used to live in the United States where his cousin lived with his aunt & uncle but moved to Japan once his father found a suitable home for them. He always liked to be in a secluded space where's there's little to no people in his area. He also got taught self-defense by his aunt and uncle due to there being a huge amount of violence in the states at the time. He's highly skilled in using knives and guns, but his cousin also taught him how to drive at a young age, with his parents acknowledging him to get a car at 13 years old. When it comes to combat, initially, he was fairly reckless when he started SAO, but when he nearly died at the hands of the 1st floor boss, he decided that a more methodical approach would be more suitable to slay bosses or mobs. He's fairly shy, due to him being the only child in his family with no one to talk to other than his cousin since he was homeschooled. He's also excellent at modding headsets and avatars, with him modifying an Augma headset the day he got it. He's also a stickler for performance, even going to great lengths to modify a laptop due to its overheating and latency issues. He's also a master of trickery, with an example being leaving a clone that Nobuyuki Sugou stabbed, seeming to kill him, only for Hideo to appear behind him and bisect him with a clean cut from the pelvis to the head. Surprisingly, Hideo's multilingual, able to speak German, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese. He was able to pick up the Japanese language quickly, although he occasionally swears in Russian.

Background

Being born around near the same time as Asuna, Hideo was sent to live with relatives in the US since his parents wouldn't be able to support him because his mother and father worked multiple jobs and used to be in heavy decline. While in the US, he was homeschooled extensively by both his aunt and uncle, who is a CIA agent, with him graduating at the very young age of 10, and was taught multiple martial arts techniques that his aunt and uncle showed him, but what he enjoyed most was the shooting range at his cousin's place and the times his cousin let him drive his car. Once word of Hideo's biological parents getting a huge sum of money with Takeshi Matsuki, Hideo's father, becoming a head developer over at Argus, the same company that developed Sword Art Online and that Hideo could come to Japan, he was excited to go since Hideo never met his biological parents and they never saw them as a young boy. Once he arrived, his parents embraced him with open arms and drove him to their house. This would be the house that Hideo would stay in for the rest of his life. His father had taught him about stocks and how to make money during that time as well, so just in case they died, Hideo would have an idea on how to make money while alone.
