Ducard is the warden of the Black Iron Palace and a lanista, a trainer of gladiators.

Ducard is a tall man with long, white hair.He is always seen wearing a dark green suit, signifying that he is member of the Army.
Personality[]
Ducard usually has a calm demeanor, but can get aggressive if needed. He has a great desire to ascend in his position inside the army at all cost needed. His life is consumed with the pursuit of money, power and political status. This psychotic obsession for wealth shows little sign of conscience or mercy. His frequent plots and schemes to gain social standing seem to have no limits. His cunning and penchant for double-dealing reveal itself in many forms.
Background[]
He was one of the programmers of SAO and was trapped inside by Kayaba. He joined the Army, believing he'd become one of the leaders. However, he was named warden of the prison on the 1st floor after the total defeat of the Army on the 25th-floor boss battle.
Relationships[]
Ducard managed to make Galant his champion of the ludus and latter his best gladiator after they come to an agreement of purpose: Galant would become a gladiator and become stronger, in exchange Ducard would help him to gain his freedom, to someday take revenge of Laughing Coffin.
Ducard cares a lot about Galant due he is his champion and his only way to leave the prison and gain more prominent position inside the army. He also helped Galant to accept his fate.
However, Ducard is just using Galant for his own benefit and to keep him far from Laughing Coffin. Ducard himself is a member of the red guild.
