Good... just like that. There's no need to hold back here. You are a hunter... and they are your prey.
~ Nero Argus

BST-13, named Fenrir, is the thirteenth BST-Frame discovered in Armor Blitz Online.

History[]

BST-13 was one of the last pair of Executioners produced during the second half of The Cataclysm War, piloted by Nero Argus. Designed to destroy both Prophets and other Fallen Angels, it was the second unit of its two-man squadron, paired with its sister frame, Hel, piloted by his sister, Seline Argus. Along with its pilot, the frame became feared by the enemies of Ars Goetia as the "Black Wolf"; a fearsome hunter that preyed upon the enemies of humanity.

At the very end of the Cataclysm War, it was sent with its sister unit to engage and destroy a coalition of rogue Fallen Angels in Antarctica. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the group of frames were escorting a Prophet to an unknown destination, and included [REDACTED]. The two Executioners engaged the group, attempting to kill the Prophet as well, but the opposing BST-Frames defended it fiercely, with Seline taking on the three BST-Frames and Nero taking on [REDACTED] alone, with the two eventually emerging victorious. Eventually, they reached the South Pole, where the Prophet activated an unknown mechanism which opened a hole in the Earth, wherein the Prophet descended along with its remaining escorts. Nero told his sister to leave and alert their superiors to the situation, whereupon he immediately gave chase, descending down a massive shaft that descended miles and miles below the surface.

With its HALO System still active from the previous battle, it quickly caught up to the Prophet, discovering a massive underground complex that contained some kind of unknown mechanism, which the Prophet attempted to interact with. Once it did, the mechanism began to activate, causing a massive seismic shift as the Prophet began to charge it with its AD Field. Fenrir, however, quickly jumped into action, managing to break through the Prophet's now overcharged AD Barrier in order to kill it.

Once this was done, Nero quickly moved to escape back out the way he came before the entrance sealed itself again. Barely managing to make it out of the complex, Fenrir suddenly deactivated the instant it reached the surface, causing it to fall and crash into the ice and snow. Though Nero successfully stopped the Prophet, a devastating amount of damage had already been done to the planet due to the massive seismic shift, as well as the presence of a massive AD Field that surrounded the planet, which was responsible for deactivating Fenrir. With no way to contact the outside world and no way to get back home, Nero left his frame within the icy crags it now rested in, unable to reactivate it.

Hundreds of years after the Cataclysm War, Fenrir would be found buried under the snow and ice by Aika Haseo, who managed to reactivate it, whereupon she would pilot the frame as her new primary machine.

Appearance[]

BST-13 possesses a sleek yet bestial design, with smooth contours and sharp edges, featuring a primarily white body with primarily black arms and legs. The head is geometric in design, and resembles the head of a wolf. It features two wing thrusters on its back, larger than most BST-Frames of similar size, consisting of two pieces that split at a fulcrum at the top of the wings, opening and allowing energy to flow between them, resulting in thrust. Like with all BST-Frames, these wings can move around, providing thrust vectoring in a wide range of directions. In addition to these wing thrusters, it has additional smaller thrusters mounted at the sides of the knee joints, as well as four more powerful thrusters flush with the back of the legs, two for each limb. Its energy color is blue.

Weaponry[]

BST-13 carries its weapons internally and integrally with the frame, as all other BST-Frames do.

Energy Blade - BST-13's primary close ranged weapon is a single forearm energy weapon that produces a powerful red blade on its right arm. The blade is capable of cutting clean through most targets, the power of the blade able to shred through armor easily, as well possessing enough power to break through AD Barriers with sustained attacks.

Claw Arm -  BST-13's secondary close ranged weapon is a heavily armored and powerful mechanical claw weapon with physical blades as the fingers. The weapon is able to rip and tear and crush targets with ease. The claw unit also contains in the palm an explosive pneumatic stake driver, which can extend outwards with incredible force at any target that the claws have grabbed onto. It is its most powerful close-ranged weapon and is primarily used as an means to instantly destroy a target with extreme force.

Rapid Energy Caster - A single rapid fire energy blaster mounted on top of the right forearm over its energy blade emitter that can be used to hit targets at a distance, and can also be used as a short-range concussive shotgun blast. It is a fairly simple ranged weapon that possesses enough power to deal damage to most targets at range, and its concussive shotgun blast secondary function is capable of causing massive damage at close range.

Head-Mounted Rotary Cannon - Two head-mounted rotary cannons that can be used for point-defense as well as to cause massive damage at close range. The rotary cannons are capable of letting loose a massive amount of firepower, firing armor-piercing explosive shells that can easily tear apart any target up close through sheer volume of fire.

Telescopic Railgun - Attached to either hip is a telescopic railgun that can be fired at extremely distant targets, utilizing physical projectiles in order to further bolster its role as an Executioner. The shots fired from these railguns are extremely accurate and capable of causing devastating damage, with the ability to easily shatter AD-Fields from massive distances and hit the target beyond.

AD Cannon - BST-13's wing units also contain AD Cannons, which can be flipped under the arms to be fired individually as extremely powerful energy weapons. The Fenrir's AD Cannons are capable of firing rapid and extremely accurate bursts of powerful energy, capable of destroying targets in single shots.

When used together, these AD Cannons act as a massive energy weapon capable of annihilating most targets it comes into contact with, and is the frame's most powerful weapon. This AD Cannon requires the frame to be locked to a stable ground and has a lengthy charging period in order to condense the frame's entire AD Field into the weapon. This essentially leaves Fenrir entirely immobile and defenseless while it is charging the weapon, making it extremely vulnerable. The weapon expends the entirety of Fenrir's AD Field in the process of firing, leaving the frame without its primary defense for an extended period of time after discharging the weapon.

Due to the nature of BST-13's design, weaponry, and performance specifications, the ability for the AD Cannons to be charged was considered a side effect of the weapon's functionality instead of a dedicated offensive armament, hence its severe limitations.

Performance[]

BST-13 features extremely high combat performance, and can even outmatch other BST-Frames, especially in terms of speed and maneuverability. Its firepower, as well, is massive for a frame of its size, the wing-mounted energy cannons being weapons more normally seen on larger and less mobile BST-Frames that are made for power rather than speed. Despite the heavy ranged armaments that BST-13 features, it is just as effective in close combat, its energy blade being able to tear apart anything in its way, and the unorthodox claw weapon in its left hand being used to grab and pin down targets as well as destroy them outright with the stake driver in its palm. The dual rotary cannons installed on either side of its head just underneath the protruding angular fins give the frame point-defense capability, as well as an extremely deadly projectile-based weapon to use up close that is capable of tearing apart enemies at close range through sheer volume of fire. BST-13 is also well armored, and features many redundancies which give it an impressive amount of durability, being able to lose entire limbs in battle but still fight.

As with all BST-Frames, BST-13 possesses a powerful AD-Field used for multiple functions, from providing power to the frame to defending the frame from attacks. Fenrir's AD Barrier is capable of defending against nearly all attackers, only being properly challenged by other AD Barriers. As BST-13 doesn't have actual feet, per se, it instead uses its AD-Field to either float off the ground or to stabilize itself on small skids that extend out behind the legs.

As with all BST-Frames, Fenrir can utilize its HALO System for a massive power boost and increase in combat performance. In this mode, the energy color of the frame changes from blue to red, and the armor segments split to reveal a glowing yellow frame underneath. This form drastically boosts the frame's performance in power and speed, and further, as an Executioner, it can utilize its AD Field for offensive purposes, giving it access to an extremely powerful energy weapon.

As an Executioner, Fenrir is able to utilize AD Shift, allowing it to effectively teleport around the battlefield. This massive speed advantage gives Fenrir a decisive edge in combat, allowing it to appear by an enemy and dispatch it before disappearing just as quickly.

Unique to BST-13 is the ability to activate its HALO System regardless of its situation. Under normal conditions, a BST-Frame has limiters that restrict its ability to activate its HALO System unless certain requirements are met. These requirements are based on the detection of either a Prophet or the activation of another BST-Frame's HALO System in an Executioner's case. Fenrir's original pilot, Nero Argus, had these limiters removed entirely, allowing him to activate the HALO System at any time. This gives BST-13 a decisive advantage against its opponents, as it is able to utilize its full power regardless of the situation, but in return has a detrimental effect on the pilot. It is due to the excessive use of the HALO System that Nero lost the function of his left arm and right eye in an advanced stage of Synchronicity Syndrome.

During Fenrir's battle against the Prophet [REDACTED], Aika's battle fury pushed her beyond the normal limits of pilot synchronicity, temporarily going beyond even the limits Nero Argus had reached in the first documented case of Transcendence. In this form, Fenrir foregoes the use of its weaponry entirely, instead relying solely on its AD-Field for offense. The AD-Field has reached extreme limits, becoming completely visible and able to interact physically with its surroundings. The sheer power of the field has exceeded the bounds of human understanding, essentially becoming identical to the field exhibited by an adult Prophet. Fenrir gains the ability to project its AD-Field into extremely powerful physical weapons, and notably is capable of projecting an intensely concentrated beam of AD Energy from its eyes.

Trivia[]

  • Fenrir's coloration, primary melee weapons, and its wolf theme, are direct allusions to Ishi Haseo, the grandfather of Fenrir's second pilot, Aika Haseo, and the main protagonist of the first story of the Haseo Trilogy, Sword Art Online: Blade Master.
  • Fenrir's energy colors are also direct allusions to Ishi Haseo. Its normal blue color representing Corbenik, while Fenrir is in its normal and "calm" state. Its red color when its HALO System is active represents Skeith, while it is "in rage" during combat. Its yellow coloration during Transcendence represents Ishi's natural eye color, symbolizing the apotheosis of his character throughout his story.
  • Fenrir's name is derived from Norse mythology, the black wolf Fenrir being the brother of the goddess Hel, a theme directly translated to Fenrir and Hel being sister units.
