So, I was doing some research and I found something really cool. We have two non-English SAO Fanon wikis! Well, kinda. They're practically dead because no one truly edits on them.

We have a Spanish wiki and a French Wiki. The Spanish wiki appears to have been dead since, I don't know, 2015? The French wiki hasn't been active in 15 days. 

The main part that I notice from them is that they practically stole the aesthetics I created. To be honest, I think it's really cool to have interlanguages. (Tbh, Fede, you could even try to turn the SPanish wiki around.

To access the interlanguages, just type "fr" or "es" in front of the URL (ex. es.saofanon.wikia.com)

With the rise of independent writers arriving at our wiki, I feel like I should address this topic. While during the first four years this was absolutely unacceptable, communities are always changing. Previously, we allowed users to promote their independent writing on our wiki as long as it was hyperlinked away from our wiki. That still holds true today, but with minor changes. 

Firstly, let me address that the SAOF Wiki has its own universe and about 99% of material is within that universe. It has rules. If you wish to partake in the universe FOLLOW THE RULES. I cannot stress that enough. If you end up being banned and haven't read the policies, that will be entirely YOUR fault.

For non-SAOF canon users, if you wish to create your own template, you are free to do so. However, it must be a clean, crisp design. New users love an organized wiki. I'd like to keep it that way. And please, have your name included in the title of the template so we can distinguish ours from yours.

Story-wise, our universe will most likely not have any affiliation with yours. Do not put any cameo appearances of our characters with yours. This is parallel to our cross-over policies and will result in consequence.

If a non-SAOF canon page is left untouched for a long period of time, it is likely it will be deleted for the next time we have a Purge.

Congratulations, Sword Art Online Fanon Wiki. You're all about to reach the Fifth Floor (Year, if you don't get the joke). Per tradition, we will have our annual polling and any events that follow. Preferably, I would like to add a fun, one-of-a-kind event but we're all limited to a keyboard, sadly. Unless one of you are craftsy enough to figure something out, there won't be anything too special.

Anyways, without further ado, let us proceed with the poll rules (edited with fresh grammar):

• Only one entry per poll
• You may vote on any character, story, weapon, etc. other than your own.
• Vote to the best of your ability and without bias or favoritism.
• Voting and participating in all polls is not mandatory.
• You MUST contact an admin if you would like to add anything that hasn't been added already. A one week grace period will be allowed for additional entries starting from when the polls are created. After those seven days, no additional entries will be allowed.
• Each entry must have a page made, and has to appear in a fanfiction that is active ("active" meaning "in progress") and has been maintained for this year. The only exceptions are the polls "Best Upcoming Series" and "Best VRMMO".
• No hard feelings or "rubbing it in other's faces" after the results have been submitted.
• The polls start on December 11th, and end on December 31, 2017.

Hi, if you don't already know who I am, my name is Don'tHateOnFate. Or Fate, for short. I'm typically absent for long periods of time. But mainly, I like to play around with the wiki's aesthetics and coding organization. Anyways, I'm here in front of everyone for an announcement. Without further ado, let's jump into the topic on hand: In a nutshell, the wiki is in need of a long-delayed makeover.

First off, let me announce that the wiki will no longer have the default chat feature. I'm done messing around with the chat that Wikia offers as it gets very buggy. So instead, I have implemented a Discord widget onto our wiki (Yayyyy). You MUST have a Discord account to use it. 

Now, let me talk about the updates that will come in the future:

• The Homepage is getting reworked. It's outdated and old now. Changes are needed.
• Updated background and theme colors (Need to consult others for recomendations first).
• Possible infobox changes (Also needs consultation. And research. And plenty of time)
• New SAOF badges (2-3 years have passed since any new ones were made, so might as well)

It is definitely possible that this list will be updated. Also, any suggestions are welcome. If you have any ideas on what color or background to use, that would be good as well. 

Lastly, expect weird bugs and lots of stray coding. And blank pages. Yeah.

Hello Sword Art Online Fanon! We have recently resolved our broken Chat Logout Event (some of you know it simply as "death messages") and we are now accepting requests. Just comment below so that we may see it.

Due to Wikia's Javascript new review policy, however, you will have to wait until the end of the day so that we can update the chat's death messages all in one go. The deadline will be at 3:00:00 UTC every day and updated by an administrator.

Hello SAO Fanon! Time to organize the second Anniversary event, Secret Santa OC Drawing! If you don't know how Secret Santa works, this is the general breakdown in a nutshell:

• You are given a name to gift

• Nobody shall know who you are gifting

Of course, instead of any gift, it's going to be drawing said person's OC.

Moving on, I'll be the organizer. The safest way is to catch me on Chat and I'll give you an OC to draw(besides mine, which would defeat the purpose of "secret").

When you are done, feel free to go on the respectful OC's designer's Message Wall and post it whenever you feel ready. You have until December 25 to finish it, so take your time.
